Default Old 5.4

I pulled my 2010 out of the garage for the first time in 4 weeks. I figured I better drive it around to keep the battery charged up. I will have to say the old 5.4 drives like a champ! I know it's not the latest and greatest motor on the block and doesn't compare to the new ones, but it gets the job done. It seems like people have less problems out of the 09-10 5.4. compared to newer motors. I could be wrong. For the guys still driving around with the 5.4 how many miles do you guys have and have you had any problems?

Having worked in a service department at a Ford dealer in 2008-2010, I can confidently say that the 5.4 in its final years was one of the most reliable engines Ford (or anyone) has ever produced. Even the ones with "issues" were most commonly noise related that didn't affect the actual performance of the engine. It was getting long in the tooth and down on power compared to the competition but in a truck, it did what it was supposed to do and for a long time.

I hope my 5.0 lasts as long as the average 5.4.

I think it would of been a good idea to offer the 5.4 in the "work" truck configurations, (i.e XL, regular cab 8' beds) at least for 2011 and '12. IDK.

My 2010 5.4 Screw has 26,500 miles. I love my truck and the engine. I've never driven any of the newer engine trucks so I can't compare. Plan to keep the truck for many years.

70k almost on mine and still gets the job done, the exhaust also reminds me of the old mustang, I have no worries of it lasting until I pick up the new F150 sometime in 2015/16 when this one is paid off haha

I have the same truck as you jumpseat. I'm working on 21k on mine. I plan on keeping mine for a long time as well as it is not my daily driver.

I've got 56k on my 2010 Screw, no issues at all. I love my 5.4. Once its paid off, I'll probably trade it in on a newer model, but its my DD for now and I'm very happy.
