Yes the new drain plug has one in it.

As a master tech you should know what it takes to change a oil pan. you should also know there a many ways to repair stripped or damaged drain plug threads in an aluminum oil pan with out removing it.
If its just the sealing surface just use a thicker sealing washer. If the threads are damaged it can be taped for a larger plug, A thread insert can be installed or as was suggested a Fumoto valve installed with a permanent locking thread sealer will fix it for good.

So I'm assuming you're saying the flanged part of the drain bolt is cutting into the pan?

Of coarse I know how to change the pan BUT with 4x4 you need to remove the front diff unit or lower it to gain access to the Stamp steel pan not Aluminum. I would replace it myself before I would let them rookie at the deal where I live. Remember the truck has only 8k on it. I was hoping some of you guys that has done it before new a short cut to remove the pan...

These same repair's can be made to a steel oil pan plus if it is cracked or leaking it can also be brazed or welded. Just wondering with that few miles if it was a factory defect it should be under warranty. Also wondering why your on your 3rd oil change with only 8k on the truck.

Yes it sits in my shop weeks at the time and not driven. The first change was at 1000 miles to get the machining metal out asap. I have always serviced my trucks at around 3500miles when I was driving it everyday. The problem is not the threads it is the outside edge of the plug that is a lot bigger then the threads.
