^ yep, I go 3-5k only. At 3k the oil really starts smelling like fuel ( common for a direct injected motor). I figure it's not hurting anything changing it early. Cheap insurance as mentioned above.

Actually if the truth is told, the owners manual says:

"As indicated by the message center (can be up to 1 year or 10,000 miles [16,000 km])"

fords engineers know whats best for your motors than any of us.. Though im sure the old school guys will resist the new 10k mile mark, thats the result of updated technology. Embrace it, because it makes no damn sense to keep changing twice as often than you should because of your old habits..

that being said, i went full synthetic motorcraft oil in my eco. though that wasnt necessary.

If you are using synthetic oil, changing ever 3 to 5k is a horrible waste. Most of you will sell your truck WAY before this wacky maint schedule would make any difference.

Yep. Pretty much this. But I will defend, to the death, the right of anyone to waste absurd amounts of money on unnecessary and wasteful oil changes all under the guise of "cheap insurance".

Seriously, if changing oil so frequently were a hedge against damage I wouldn't buy the damn truck in the first place.
