Default Oil Change time

I plan on changing the oil in my '13 ecoboost for the first time and have read a bit on here about different oils. But just want to ask one final time what I should use. Lots of people use penzzoil platinum(which I can get at Walmart, cheap). Just wondering if people are happy with it or are noticing any problems? I'm just surprised it might be a really good oil and it's cheap. Thanks for any imput!

Ps. I might be able to get amsoil in town. Not sure, cause they're closed today

I myself go with Amsoil Signature series and their Ea filters. Cost a bit more, but my last truck is still going with over 360,000 miles on it and I would change the oil about once a year whether it needed it or not.

With a forced induction motor you always want to try to use the best stuff whenever possible, however you should pick a brand you will be able to find easily and repeatedly for whatever service interval you choose.

Basically if penzoil platinum is found easily where you are and can afford to use it every time then go for that, just try to stay away from cheaper house brands and you will be fine.

If you go top shelf with red line or amsoil you can also run longer service intervals and they recommend only changing the filter every 5k and smelling the oil, if it doesn't smell or look burnt then just change filter and top off. Some guys run it for 15-20k before seeing it darken or smell nasty so its def good stuff.

Enjoy the shower of oil the new Eco is about to give! it shoots out pretty far

If you want to make all your future oil changes much easier and have less mess and never have to remove or replace a drain plug ever again, go look up the Fumoto Drain Valve. The part# for the EB is F-107 and no additional adapter or part is needed. I have them on all three of my vehicles and it makes things much quicker and easier.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll go on Tuesday and get amsoil, if they carry 5w30. I've heard of those drain valves before and think I will get one to make life easier.

Why not use Motorcraft? Ford designs their oils very well and they are in good ratings. And it's not that expensive. They put it in there for a reason.

I will be running Motocraft or penzoil platinium. More than likely Motocraft.

The last three years have been nothing but Ford Motorcraft oil and filter changes. No issues for me. My last 10 Fords have also had nothing but FMC oil changes and never had an engine issue.

I have yet to see a SINGLE post on any forums I visit (fusion, focus, f150, SD) have an engine failure due to FMC oil.
