Oil Change

Hey All, I'm approaching 10k miles on my 13' FX2. The first oil change was on the dealer, and the sticker suggests my next oil change at 10K. Do you guys typically go by the miles on the sticker, or the date? Or is it ok if you go a couple thoudand miles over the 'suggested' next oil change date? I had an infinity coupe before my truck and I kept it pretty close to the oil change milestones, but was wondering how these exoboosts did. My main question however was, do you guys get your oil changed at the dealerships, or is an express oil change or any place that changes oil ok to take our trucks to? Not sure of the stealership prices as yet, but I don't want them trying to oversell me on anything, just want my oil changed. Lol. What do you guys suggest?

I change my own at home every 4-5 months. I keep my own log in the back pages of the manual with what oil and filter I used along with the miles and date of the change.

it's your preference on where you get it done. I do it myself to insure everything is done right, from using a new filter everytime, the right amount of oil, all tabs are clipped back in and whatnot.

again, it's up to you. I'd suggest doing it yourself or letting a reputable ford dealer doing it. check on their website for service/oil change deals.

I change the oil every 5,000-6,000K. The truck just turned 1,000K and I'm scheduled to do the 1st oil change this weekend

Cheap insurance

Your truck is equipped with an IOLM (intelligent oil life monitor) it will tell you when it's time, the manual says to change at 10k or the IOLM which ever comes first, or you can do what I do and send a small sample to blackstone labs for analysis.

They will tell you how much life is left on the oil.

what mileage when dealer changed? i would just change it myself and go from there. as much as our trucks cost, why chance running the oil changes longer. you can run fully synthetic longer than the blend which is not half and half. 5-6k miles is as long as i would go or 6 months.

I have a 2012 screw and have been changing the oil based on the oil monitor since I bought it in March of 2012. I have 76k on it now, and the 10k miles between changes hasn't hurt it at all. I too send a sample to a company I deal with from work, and haven't seen any excess wear from the extended changes. I use Amsoil.

I got my first oil change at 5K miles at the dealer where I bought it from. The sticker on my mirror says my next oil change is at 10K miles. I'm current at around 9700.

You need to closely monitor your oil in your ecoboost. Some motors suffer from fuel in the oil. If you go a while without checking it you run the chance of it damaging the motor. Most guys go around 5k between their oil changes.

Did mine at 7k as I wanted a tire rotation too. First 3 are free (within 12 months) so didn't pay for either.

The first 3 oil changes are free, or tire rotations? Is this with all new buys, or dealer specific? I don't think they mentioned that to me when I purchased mine. I recall the first oil change, but unsure about the tires. Wouldn't hurt to ask though. Thanks!
