Default OEM projector upgrade worth it?

I’m currently running halogen bulbs in my 2012 F150, I was wondering if I switch over to OEM projectors if I would notice a big difference in visibility and if it’s worth it?? the reason I ask is because a new OEM projector set isn’t cheap. wondering if the people that upgraded to OEM projectors think its a good upgrade.

I say no mainly because of price.

Find some decent quality aftermarkets and put them in. Thats what I did.

Yes and no.
HID projectors are definitely worth the upgrade. But it doesn't cost that much to retrofit your current headlights and you will get better performance out of the retro compared to the factory.

As a fairly plug and play option, the OEM HID's are one of the easiest ways of getting HID's.

A lot of aftermarket are halogen projectors and not designed for a HID/LED bulb. If you can find an aftermarket actually using a HID/LED projector for cheap, it would be worth it but in my searching to replace my factory chrome HID with blacked out version, I couldn't find anything that had a projector for HID/LED, only halogen in aftermarket.

I found my set of blacked out version of Brand New OEM HID for $550 and sold my chrome HID's for $500 net profit ($600 was the selling price but after shipping and paypal fees my net was exactly $500). So the switch cost me only $50.
At $550/$600 for a set of empty housings, you are looking at about $800-$900 for a set of OEM's. Whereas a retrokit is going to cost you about $300 plus your time.

I was looking at the OEM set raptor retrofit sells that come with the evox 50w upgrade. But it isn’t cheap so just making sure it’s worth it if I pull the plug.

You do get to customize them from them, but at $1750 starting price, you can build your own with similar stuff for about $1000.

That would include OEM housings, a 50w ballast if you want, a better bulb.

You do not get the better projector but they aren't that bad to bake apart and quickly replace as the evox projector is a direct replacement, no mods needed other than baking apart and resealing. If you are baking them apart then you can add the halos and stuff at that time.

I made the switch to OEM projectors from halogen. I also swapped the factory bulb for the Osram Cbi. I personally love the look now. And the light output is great. I have told a few on here but I’ll tell you as well. The factory HID housings can be found for pretty cheap if you are patient. I got mine for $50 on Craigslist. Now I realize that’s the best deal ever. But I’ve seen them commonly for as low as $200

check out this thread. parts alone would be roughly $600-700 to do a proper retrofit. of course you'd save on labor doing it yourself. going from the stock HID projectors to the EVO X-R 2.0 projectors was a night and day difference. i'd recommend it.

yeah i don't trust myself to do it and i honestly don't have the time. i prefer to pay a professional like raptor retrofit. if i will notice a big difference from OEM halogen to OEM HIDs with the Evo X projectors upgrade raptor retrofit sells then I think ill get them.

Absolutely worth the upgrade. I did it to my truck years ago. You can retro and all that jazz but imho won't look as good as oem. Difference in light output between oem halogen and HID is literally night/day.
