Default OEM power boards

Has anyone managed to hard wire a set of the OEM power boards to there F150. I have a 2013 KR and I was able to trade for these. I am hoping to wire them straight up to maybe the door sensor. But no luck yet. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I think those are just amp research power steps, look and see if they have a harness.

Amp research USED to be contracted to make them for Ford a few years back, but sold the rights to another company.
The NEW Amp (or Aftermarket) boards from them Almost look identical, but the motors ARE different & the boards are slightly different.
What's cool about this for them, AMP Research,...they now just recently merged with Lund and now can offer much more to the public with numerous applications for other makes & models. (Made in the USA & hopefully able to make more money too, versus ONLY making them for Ford).
With that said...I know their motors are different & would only assume so is the wiring harnesses too.
May want to contact them for sure.

I believe the OE retractable running board setup has the boards activated by some computer module in the truck. There is a page in the instrument display where you can change the operation of them to keep them extended, keep them from extending, etc. If you install aftermarket ones you can't set them up to work with the instrument display or adjust the operation of them.

I have the aftermarket AMP boards, and there is a "controller" that comes with them. They extend immediately when you open a door, and when you close a door they remain extended for 2 seconds and then retract.

If the boards you got are the AMP boards, I would say that instead of trying to wire them "straight up to maybe the door sensor", you should probably get an AMP wiring harness and the AMP controller so you get them to operate like a set of aftermarket AMP boards is designed to work.

Take a look at the AMP website for parts that may help you get them working properly.

I'd call their customer service/tech rep guys and get their advice.

Good luck from an old Vietnam Huey, OH-6, and OH-58 driver, and Coast Guard HH-52, HH-65, and HU-25 driver! My last Army tour was instructing in Hueys at Cairns.

Yeah going through amp was in question. The f150 does used a power module mounted on the back wall behind the back seat. Which mine does not have. I was kind of just hoping to bypass all that and wire into my doors somehow. I may have to fork out the extra money and buy the amp harness and power module. 😞 but it is what it is. At least I got the boards for free I guess. Lol thanks guys.

Hi everone!
I was looking at picking up a used set of the prb off of a 2010
And was wondering if anyone had luck wiring these up to the battery and using the door switch to Sinai a relay to open and close them?
Thanks!

Update on using amp research power module and harness with power OEM steps.

After months of research and deciding to actually the 200$ on the harness and module from AMP. I finally decided to take the hit. And thank god it worked. I will post pictures and AMP product numbers later.

I have to say that it is a great feeling when the guys at the ford dealership trip out when the steps come out on a 2013 KR. I have them working for about a week now and all is fine. Can't complain. 200$ for power running boards. Ask any questions I'll be happy to answer.
