Default Number 7 Cylinder Misfire?

Just had my 2012 F-150 5.0 in the shop for brakes, had them run a diagnostic on the truck since I've been having some skipping issues, and they reported the number 7 cylinder was misfiring. It's very similar to the skipping/hesitation on the 5.4L 3V when the plugs or COPS were bad.

The truck has almost 74,000 miles. Is it time to replace plugs and cops? I would rather do all at once, (the dealership only wanted to replace the single COP for around $200 parts and labor )

If I do decide to do plugs and COP's I'm assuming motorcraft is the popular choice?

Thanks.

Swap the COP on #7 with the one next to it and clear the DTC's .. see if the mis-fire code follows the suspected bad COP. if not swap the plug on cylinder 7.

If I buy a new plug and COP I'm assuming go motorcraft?

Yes.. but, don't buy a COP until you swap it to verify it's bad, unless you have money to burn...

Well if the cop is bad I might replace them all, I hate doing partial work, especially on my truck.

That is true. Just need to find time to swap it and check.

On my 2000 F150 when I had it, I had a COP go bad at about 110K miles. I swapped it with another and verified it was bad and replaced it. Within the next 10K miles, I had another go bad. At that time, I replaced the other 7.

That's why I would rather do them all if one of the COP's is bad....but then again, that's a lot of money right now that I don't need to spend. Decisions...decisions....

The coil packs on the 5.0 aren't really that hard to get at, not like the 5.4 from what I've seen. Whatever you do, I'd probably avoid the all coils except to Motocraft ones. The rest seem to all be cheap Chinese clones.
