Default Northeast owners question

I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but has anyone dealt with the new inspection sticker law in Massachusetts?

I just got the truck inspected but now they take pictures of the vehicle during inspection and film prior to the inspection, no longer are you allowed to have intakes, exhaust, lifts higher than 2" or wheels that stick out of the vehicle, no cars lower than factory height.

With that said is anyone familiar with this any way around it? They are cracking down heard around my area Boston suburbs.

*Disclaimer for anyone from CT* I know it's a $1000 fine in CT if you get caught. I'm not sure about Mass, but in RI plenty of people register their trucks up in Maine. My buddy just did it. They call a company/lawyer to set it up. My friend didn't have to drive to Maine, just get the paperwork to take to the DMV. No inspections in Maine, no sales tax (or property tax - or both, not sure). My truck won't pass inspection with all the modifications I've done, but luckily I know someone that can help me out. If for some reason I couldn't, you can bet I'd be registering my truck in Maine (or possibly Florida if I can - through a family member.) RI is already corrupt enough, and I assume Mass is no better.

They did the whole surveillance security BS in RI already and afaik it hasn't stopped people from letting things slide. Might be different though because they didn't actually take pics of the vehicles up close.

Mass was bad when I left in 1982, but New Hampshire was worse so I went west
Now I am in TN and they are normally OK with all unless you go to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, and neither care if you are from out of state.

We have state inspections in Maine (annually) but no smog testing. We also have to pay excise tax to register a vehicle. The excise tax gets cheaper each year as the vehicle depreciates. But they rape you on new vehicles. The excise tax on my 2017 Raptor this year was $1200. It only cost $110 each to register my 92 Bronco and my 86 Grand National.

Is the state inspections for residents only? My understanding was that Maine allowed out of state registrations and they didn't require inspections because they didn't live in Maine

I'm not sure?? I just looked on the website and couldn't find anything on non-residents. http://www.maine.gov/sos/online_services/index.html
Most of the snowbirds up here that go to Florida for the winter register their vehicles in Florida because it is much cheaper.

Mass was bad but now its become impossible to have any modified vehicle, if they find a station doing patsys they loose their license and able to operate.

I could care less about the taxes and all that but at least let me enjoy my expensive hobby! What's the harm the changes are only damn aesthetics! /rantover
