It was already a gray area for companies to decrypt the PCM for vehicles like EB's (the original intent to encrypt it in the first place is obvious). It was done anyway and no one is getting dragged before Judge Judy. Yet. Eventually, perhaps, but it'll take some time.

They can try....but good luck getting a judge to find you guilty in a court of law and send you off to prison.
It could become a law, but it would be a law with no real teeth.
If bored someday google laws.....in many places it is even illegal to have oral sex, yes even with your spouse. But it is not like your going to jail for 10 years because the wife gave you a bj.
What it will do is **** off the consumer aka us the people that buy them...so if they want to rock the boat and hurt their own image that is totally up to them. Go ahead car companies and tarnish your own image even more.
Then i will go out and change my own oil as i always do, check my own tire pressures, look at the air filter to see if its too dirty.....maybe buy a tuner and hook it up. Buy a sweet set of black after market rims to. Etc.
But i paid for it and will do as i please.
Want to try taking me to court for working on my own car or truck.....good luck.
