Newly programmed key won't lock or unlock
My, new to me, used 2011 F150 Lariat came with one key that has the Remote start on it, and one key that doesn't. I bought two Ford blank keys for this vehicle with Remote switches, on Ebay and brought them to the Ford Dealer who cut them for me. I followed the instructions for programming the new keys. As I understand it: Put one working Ford key into the ignition, turn to the Run ( not start) position for 3-5 seconds, and then turn it off and remove. Within a few seconds, do the same with the other Working Ford key and then remove it as well. Then put one of the new keys in and turn it to the Run position for 3-5 seconds and then turn off and remove. I followed this process and got the first key to start the truck but the second key would not work. I repeated the process severall times but with the same results. In addition, even the new key that works, will not operate the Door lock or Unlock or Remote start features. I am not sure if the battery in the key fob has to be working for the key to Start the car but I knew it would have to be working for the other functions. I replaced the batteries in both new key fobs even though the existing batteries tested fine. But unfortunately, neither key will operate the locks or the remote and the second key will still not turn the car on. It does turn in the ignition switch, so I know it is cut correctly, but won't turn the truck on. The dash shows Key Failure when I try to use that second key. I would be grateful for any advice or suggestions. Thanks
There are two different things going on.
1) Programming of the key to start the vehicle, following the process you described. If you were able to program one of the key blanks that you had cut and it started the vehicle, then the process worked fine. If the second key won't program, then it's likely bad.
2) You program the buttons in a separate process. Try this - https://www.keylessentryremotefob.co...ob-remote.html

X2 on what was stated above,
there re are two processes, one for the rfid chip, and one for the fob buttons.
our trucks can only have 8 rfid chipped keys in memory, if you already had 7, that would explain why the second new key won't work. ForScan can clear out all previous keys. Or like said, the key rfid chip could be bad.
only 4 fobs can be stored in the truck's memory. And each fob process must included all fobs at one time, old and new.

Thank you for that link!!!! I am making progress! Following the instructions in the link you kindly provided, I WAS able to get the Dorr lock and unlock functions working. Unfortunately, the Remote Start still doesn't work on the newly programmed remote. Any suggestions in that regard? Thank you again for the information.

Just as a note, it's the cheap keys from ebay or Amazon that require the RKE function to be programmed separately. Genuine Ford or Ford-recommended units program both functions at the same time.
Did you order the correct transmitter keys? Does the remote start work on the original key with the RS button?

Ive been reading this thread with great interest. I have 2 fobs that use to work and have new batteries in them both, Neither work on any of the buttons except the panic button. Door keypad and key start ignition work fine.
