He heard back from Detroit and they told him to tell me that it is normal for the grill to crack from slamming the hood closed and so they are not going to repair or replace it. I called Detroit and got a 2 day runaround and was told again today that there was nothing they would do about it. My concern is that If the bumper to bumper warranty won't cover an obvious defect with the truck only having 7000 miles on it, what else is the warranty not going to cover. I left GM after 40 years to give Ford some business but now I'm rethinking my decision.
For those of you that are long time Ford people I'm wondering, Is their quality as bad as GM when it comes to their product or am I just a person that has that "go ahead and screw me" look on my face? I have applied a little super glue to it to keep it from spreading but the more I think about it, the more it just plane Peeses me off.

while i feel your pain. i can't say i've experienced it.

if anything man... if you've got kids etc, i think with christmas comming, i'd ask santa for a new grill. or maybe your kids will get you an aftermarket one.

or, stand back and wait until fathers day.

bottom line man, while ford may bend you over.... try and turn a negative into a positive. you'll come out ahead.

at least that's how i try and do things...

Thats exactly what im saying. That is life, deal with it.

Less than 2% of all produciton vehicles typically are going to have some issues from the factory. Most are dealt with properly and some are not. Some are dealt with once enough people have reported the problem.

If youre unlucky enough to buy one of those vehicles with issues and those issues arent addressed to your satisfaction, take action.

If you think every every GM that rolls out of the factory is perfect and/or that they stand behind their product better, than trade the truck for what you think is the better option.

Its pretty easy to understand.

You would starve if you were a Ford service manager. Tell that to anyone and you would be labeled an idiot

So I think this post was about a cracked grill. Now everyone is bashing everyone else. Look pretty simple fix for warranty issues. There is a book in your glove box on how to handle it. I can say my truck is back in the Shop today for shudder issue. This is the third time it's been in for it. TN state law states 4 attempts to fix then qualifies for lemon. So that's what I'll do. I agree ford should stand by their products. I'f my grill was cracked I would fight the issue till blue in the face. Don't take no for an answer.

I sympathize with those of you with issues. I have been lucky with mine. Now at 9K. My local dealership would fix mine I believe if I took it to them with that issue. My hoods only been up maybe 6 or 7 times since I bought it. Once for an oil change and the rest to detail/check oil. I'm careful how I shut the hood. As far as GM, well I can recite several friends / coworkers with far more serious issues that were not taken care of. A coworker has an 06 Silverado he bought new. First issue was a blown fuse every time he pushed the ebrake. Dealer found after three visits that the wiring harness was loose and the ebrake lever chaffed it. They fixed that. Then the taillights started falling out. Literally. After the first set they refused to replace anymore. Then the tailgate latch assy broke. They refused that one too. He has had a ratchet strap draped over it for 60,000 miles. Also lost a front wheel bearing at 30k. No warranty. Another coworker has the slapper of a 5.3. Dealer said "normal". Brother in law had a $60K Yukon Denali. Chrome plating came off the wheels. They Warrantied that. Had 4 door handles replaced. 2 under warranty. Denied the other 2 but acknowledged they change them constantly. The 6.2 slapped and drank oil. Dealer said "normal". The final straw for him was of all things the windshield/back glass washer lines came off. They denied it. He bought a $2 pack of tubing and we repaired it in my garage. Traded it off a month later.
I sound like I am bashing GM. I am only reciting known dealership experiences. Regardless of the brand, the dealership can make or break a loyal customer. I hope you get resolution.

Pics as requested/ promised

One pic is of the passenger side, it is a long one.
The other pic is the drivers side and it is a very pronounced crack.....pretty disappointed, but will just replace it if it breaks.

He's going to starve anyway. Remember, he has a "stupid high car note" due every month.

Someone asked how many times the hood has been opened in 7000 miles. The dealer installed my remote starter and closed the hood when done. The dealer changed my oil and filter and closed the hood when done. I checked the oil once and had to close the hood. I guess my answer is I've had the hood closed about 3 times in 7000 miles and the dealer closed it 2 of those 3 times. At this rate in a couple years the grille will be pretty much busted away because it will have been closed another half dozen times.
