New Truck
I think I have my F-250 6.0 diesel sold. I have had many problems with the diesel engine. I am trying to decide between an F-150 or F-250. The 150 would be lariat, crew cab, 6.5' bed, 4x4, 5.4 L. The 250 would be basically the same crew, 6.5' bed, 4x4, 5.4 L. I'm not sure which way to go. I generally drive 45 minutes both ways everyday. I may also be doing so towing sometime. I think the 150 would provide a nicer and more comfortable ride, but the 250 has a higher payload. Any input from your own right. I've never had a 150 before. the most I've driven is a test drive. Thank you.

well it depends on how much you are towing. if its no more the 10k then the f150 would be a good fit. just make sure you are getting the 3.73 gears. i have em on my 09 fx4 and it pulls a trailer great. also the f150 will haul more then 3k in its bed. thats more than enough for most people.
on a side note. what year is your 6.0? i have an 07 6.0 and i havent had any problems with it. although i know that the early 6.0's (03-04) where bad.

well you were smart in getting rid f the 6.0!! other than texasplayboy i havent heard a good story. Alot of my buddies got rid of thier 7.3's when the 6.0 came out, i hear them regret getting rid of the 7.3. well if the F-250 costs a lot more than the F-150 then get the F-150. Remember if you need the extra payload later you can buy a pair of add-a-leafs for around a hundrd bucks.

well you also need to remeber that your truck can always do more than what the book says. a fue weeks ago i had 40 bags of feed in my truck.(2000 lbs) and my truck did awesome. once you hit the 3rd leaf the truck stiffens up ALOT. and i was suprised that i couldnt really tell anything was back there.

Have you ever considered the F-250 with the V-10 gas vise the diesel? It is only a $650 option. I've driven one and if I were in the market for a heavy but only occasional hauler, thats the way I'd go. Not quite the torque of the diesel, but a stump puller none the less. Fuel mileage is not much different and almost the same as my F-150. It is alot of truck for the money.

Maybe the newer V10's are better on gas, but everyone that I've ever talked to that had a V10 truck bitched about how bad the gas mileage was. Like 10-12mpg mixed driving.

If you're driving 45 minutes every day you and you don't have to haul more than the F150 has in capacity then I would go with the F150. I have a 2009 KR F150 4x4 with 3.55 rear and I'm getting about 16.5 mpg vs. the roughly 10-12 mpg you're going to get the with diesel F250 (guy in the office had a 2009 KR F250). The 250 will pull a house but you're going to pay dearly for that power.
