The install steps on the Sync site are wrong if you have Basic Sync, which I do. I got it figured out though and got the install done. I don't notice any difference though. It still only makes phones calls and plays my music via BT. Still no text support. I'm not exactly sure why I even bothered with the update. Is it only beneficial to those with better than Basic Sync?

 

2012 FX4 w/Sony system. Flashed mine, re-paired my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, seems to be working. I'm going to go get some dinner in a bit, I'll test the voice commands while I'm out and about to see for sure.

 

agree! Would also like to know how much they want to suck out of us to run this update. Not sure the juice is worth the squeeze.

 

I do like that part of ot too. Hard to beat it down here.

 

Do any of the Sync systems like MyFord Touch and Nav update themselves automatically in any Ford vehicles?

 

On my 14 XLT w/4.2" I also had difficulty updating mine after several attempts. Finally tried a Master Reset, then the install. Worked like a charm.

If you go to the Ford site where you download the file, you see something like this (see below). The DGIT-14D544-AE update matched the number that displayed as FPN on my truck BEFORE I did the update. The new update was FJ5T-14D544-AB for me. When I was finally successful, this displayed as FPN on the truck, and when I uploaded the file it showed that's what I did on 3/20. The 3/18 "update" was in fact Sync saying that I re-loaded the file that came with my truck from November 2013 (I bought it in December 2013). I did not download that file, no idea why it said that was the update I did.
