Default New FX4

Looking at a new FX4. If I can get them to a fair price for my 2012 XLT I'm gonna make the change. Looking for some opinions.

Current truck is a 2012 XLT 4X4 ecoboost with 373 locker with 18 wheels. Love the truck but there are some options on the FX I want.

I have narrowed down to 2 FX trucks. Both 4X4 with ecoboost and 355 locker. One has 18" wheels and the other has 20" wheels. What is the difference? I know the 355 is a taller gear and I will lose a little grunt on the bottom. What is there besides that?

The difference in ratio's will be hard to notice in normal driving. I have the eco with a 373 and 22's and it doesn't feel any different than my neighbors eco with 20's and 355 gears. My neighbor on the other side just bought a 14 Raptor, that feels different.

Sounds like it just comes down to how much you are willing to spend to get the options you wish you had bought last time. Good luck.

The difference is when you pull a trailer. 18's are a better choice for that under heavier loads...safer. You can still tow with 20's no problem.

The difference noticed most will be trailering and the payload weight of the trucks.

The other difference is the price of tires when they need replaced. I'm pretty sure the 18's are cheaper.

This is true but the 20s do look sweet...

So I run the 20s summer and I have a set of 18 ATX wheels with General Grabber AT2s for winter driving. If your going to run a winter tire, may as well get the 20s.

I have the 3.55 in mine and it tows great. Its the happy medium for truck gears.
