Default New to the forums Leveling/lowering question

Hello to everyone. I have a few questions on leveling/lowering my '09F150 SCREW 5.4. I want to get it level but i won't ever have the need for huge tires. I am thinking about drop shackling the rear 2 inches, but want to be able to have enough clearance for 20" rims and tires. I am really not a "big wheel" person but the max i would go is 22". Just curious as what would be better. I keep reading about lifting your vehicle and not too much about lowering to level. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.

James

Here's a link to a discussion on installing the drop shackles. My husband installed the Ground Force kit on my FX4. I have the factory 20" rims and have had no problems. There is also plenty of room if I want to install larger tires later.

Here is another link of "How To" instructions for the Ground Force kit.

you will not have any problems at all with just a 2" shackle, I have 22's and dropped 6" in the back and soon to be a 8" drop and still with a not so terribly small side wall

so with a 2" shackle you can do 22's with probably something like a 305/45/22 (12x33) and still not have a problem. and obviously with a 20 you could have taller sidewalls, but i would suggest a 305/40/22 (good looking tire size)

Do you have a 4x4? If so, try taking the rear block out. It's a 1.25" block that sits in between the leaf springs and the axle, raising the rear 1.25". It's easy and free (if you do it yourself) to see if you like it lowered.

I just did it tonight, so far I like it. It doesn't level it... the rear is still ~1.5" higher than the front, but I still haul things and tow my trailers so I didnt want level.

Check it out:

Next spring I'll be getting 20"s.
