New brake controller issues
That’s good news. I believe if there is a load on the brake power circuit it should recognize the trailer as connected in the controller. Also volts should sweep up when you use the manual lever on the controller.
where did you put ground side of circuit when testing brake power? Need to verify the ground pin and wiring on the set also. You’ve verified the power side just need to make sure ground side is solid. Poor Ground will make your car act weird and cause you to chase your tail.

I noticed even with the tester on it, it still shows "trailer disconnected".
Shouldn't the tester be completing the circuit and making it think there is a trailer?
Or maybe a tester doesn't actually allow a circuit to go all the way through.
Does the brake controller system use the ball as part of a ground? Or is that only lights?
Thanks for the help.
I put the positive on the brake control pin, and the negative on the ground pin. Was unsure what else to try, since it seems to be a complete circuit back there.

will be interesting to see the the boneyard BC works differently.
What happens when you’re moving with the trailer connected and you squeeze the trigger? Does pressing gain up or down without a trailer hooked up say trailer not connected? Mine does just that with no trailer.
I know I have a different generation, but there have been so many posts with people buying counterfeit brake controllers, having this same issue, switching to OEM and everything working correctly. I’m thinking there has to be similarities with the 12th gen.
This is a tear down someone did of OEM vs knock offs.

Yea voltage changes depending on what my gain is set at

I can adjust gain without it mentioning the trailer being disconnected though.
If the brake controller was not working, it seems like voltage wouldn't be making it to the plug though. So that's the confusing part. 12 v to the plug and still nothing, and the disconnected message.
Maybe the circuit is there, but the brake controller is junk, and doesn't acknowledge it even though the circuit is complete.
But then the brakes should still be working, since the 12v is running through it.
This evening I'll see if I can get another truck to hook up to the trailers.
