Default new borla muffler

hey all!

just got my borla installed 40944 3" si/so.. i cut the hole system from flange back and put in 3" pipe from flange back to muffler and wow shes got some gusto! now when i got to work i pulled the neg. battery for about 30 mins before having to plug back in to go to another site..i drove around for 30 mins after re-plug so truck could learn new flow stratagy..but when i stopped it told me :saving system battery, pull key and reinsert to start: <- or somthing like that..ive only goten that after leaving it in acc mode for 15 mins or so... also did leaving only neg battery off not full drain the ecu memory as my radio stations were still there when i got back in (but it did go to AM radio on 1st start)...now for the experience! boy is she pronounced now!!! low rumble off of light but get into 1900-2300 and shes quite verbal!! the highway jaunt i did i got on it to merg and she sang beautifully! ...my only thing is in stop and go or at a light if im on the phone (over blu tooth) it could be a lil loud..at 60 on the free way you knew there was a mufler there but no drone like my 06 5.4 with the 14" maggie..but ill wait to see if I really get to liking or if i need to get the 3" unwelded from the from and 2.5 res. reinstalled and run 3" from there back to borla ect. ect...now for photos!:

heres the muffler

the 3" pipe from the flange

all welded in

from the flange back

thanks for lookin!

Update: i went back to the muff shop this morn and get my res put back on FREE OF CHARGE!! i love the local shop that are good guys and ive had business with them over the past few years! i paid for the install wed and as they got pipe back they just swaped in my res for me! i love it now its just loud enough to know an exhaust is there but not over bearingly loud in cab! ill get phots up tonight after work but its now 3" Y to 3" pipe (the weld was to close to flange) to 2.5 stock res (they expanded the res pipe sides to slide over the pipe they installed wed.) to 3" out of that! its sounds just perfect for me now!! so any one thinking about mufflers for the 5.0 I say just do a muffler swap and keep the existing pipe and res. thats in there!! it would have saved me 30 bucks or so knowing this before but atleast I supported the local guy!

here are the photos after res install:

borla still rumblin like a boss!

res. welded back in pretty much is stock local

heres the front end by the flange..they cut to close when i ori. got it all done on wed so they didnt want to cut at flange so i have sec of 3" pipe out of Y then they x-panded* the res pipe sides to fit on/over the new/existing 3" pipe on front and back

Nice ! Did u keep the flex pipe also ? My local custom guy said I def should leave that and the res on otherwise without the flex pipe can twist and break with the power of the turbos. Here's my new borla muffler and custom dual 4" pipes. [ame] here's the right video !

Sounds great!

The Borla XR1 is normally our number one suggestion for those looking to do a muffler swap or custom catback setup
