Default Need some guidance

So im doing the timing upgrade /repair, and I was wondering what you think about cams, I'm a hands-on learner,

I'm not looking for top end. im thinking about increasing torque. Does anyone have any suggestions?

1) changing cams is plenty of work. Is there a problem you are trying to solve? (more torque?)
2) The 5.4l (3v) is notorious for needing the timing job ou are going after...GOOD CALL., before it eats itself.. Doing a 100% timing job AND replacing the OEM oil pump w/ a good high volume (like Melling) oil pump would be the best use of your time and $$ to make that truck last for the long haul. The VVT (Variable Valve timing) Ford designed in gives some of the best torque w/o changing the length of intake runners.

Thanks, i know the basics, on the 5.4, this is my 2nd. i just figured if a mild cam could increase the torque a bit more. Maybe ill do the lockout since ill be in there.

Since I'm that far in why not go just a bit more and check the rockers etc and do a high job. I plan on keeping the truck for 10 years, if the world doesn't explode by then.

Thank you for the response definitely appreciate it.
