I'd go with the Limited because I'd only have to replace the 22" wheels. If I went with the Platinum I'd have to replace the 20" Platinum wheels and do something about the panel on the tailgate.

Isnt the limited rather limited in tow rating? Not sure why but that's what I recall. If that's not an issue then limited is what id do.

Point taken, however the OP wasn't specific. Admittedly, I'm the very analytical type that considers a bunch of stuff before posting such a question as did the OP. Not always the best trait but it works for me.

So my question remains; does he prefer function -or- luxury fluff -or- both at the very best price? That was my reason asking for details...

Its an interesting point because when I bought my truck, I was going to buy a Platinum. But...when you look at options, I bought a fully loaded f150 fx4 with everything except the appearance package. The differences between my truck and the Platinum were silly things like leather door arm rests and leather console cover...all of which will get dirty with use and eventually look like crap. Even my friend who had a Platinum 1 year older than mine couldn't believe all the features in my truck. He since traded his Platinum in on a '14 FX4. I chose the Platinum because my 20s ride rough enough, couldn't imagine what the 22s are like.

I was thinking the same thing as far as the ride goes and also with the towing aspects.

Your not going to have much in the way of payload with either model.
I tow a car trailer with my foxbody back and forth from the track. So I would say I tow maybe 6 times out of the year.

I them both at a good price. The limited has a eco with 3.55 gears. The platinum had the 5.0 with 3.55 they are both 4 wheel drive. I was leaning more towards the platinum because of maintenance costs down the road. Plus I love the sound of a v8. I just tow my car occasionally to the track. Most of the time I will just drive it back and forth to work. I do drive down some rough roads every now and then. I get down them Ok with my 2 wheel drive truck now.

Now they do have some better deals on the fxs and some lariats. I know that the lariats come with pretty much everything that the platinum does with a few exceptions. Your right about the ride. I love my 18s on my truck they do soak up some more of the bumps.
