Thats for all the feed guys, i am not buying the truck just beat my neighbors truck. I had been planing on buying one for a while and in the mean time he bought this ram. The reason the EB is not an option is it gets minimal better HP then the 5.0 and 10% more torque plus i can stand a truck sounding like a rice burner. I have read of guys making similar power of the 6.2 with the 5.0 with few mods, while retaining their mileage. What are the mods ? Can i boost mileage of the 6.2 with a few mods ?

Well unfortunately you aren't 100 percent informed on the EB. The torque curve shows that that "10 percent" difference to be much larger than that at lower RPM. If you haven't driven one... Go drive one. Not trying to sway you either way... just want you to know the truth and not just stuff you read.

I hear you on the sound. But it doesn't bother me much. Having used both for towing the eco does it much better with torque down low. The 5.0 is revving up high while the eco sits at 1500 rpm. The torque curve of the 6.2 makes me think it will be similar to the eco in that regard.

I flat out don't like towing with the 5.0, but I also have spent more time towing with a diesel and prefer a more diesel like power band. It isn't that it does a bad job, I just have access to both and the 5.0 is my last choice for towing.

So, admittedly I am biased towards a certain power band and since the exo is a no go for you I say 6. 2

Funny you mention diesel. I was planning on buying one of the new 6.7 powerstrokes before the Bronco was stolen but now looking into them i just don't want to deal with the cost of owning one. The F150 will do everything i ask it to do.

That's good advice, I've towed 5000lbs. With my 6.2 & it rarely kicked out of overdrive, even on small inclines, & it only dropped one gear climbing hills at hwy. speeds. At least there are good choices to pick from.

I sold my 03 King Ranch diesel to get my F150. A diesel will spoil you with towing, I was really worried until I towed with the F150, I was very surprised AND HAPPY with my decision. It'll do everything I need it to.

I say go with the engine with the most HP and TQ. At worst it will cost you an extra 50 bucks a month to put fuel in it, but you get the reliability and sound that you are looking for and when towing all the engines get about the same mileage.
I am super happy with the 6.2 in my FX4 and my lifetime mileage is just under 15mpg which includes towing a 6000lb boat on the weekends.
