this use to happen every once in a while on my nissan frontier. wiggling the steering wheel is what did the job for me. sometime it took a little longer but it would get it. it would happen to me with my wheels perfectly straight when parked as well as turned. good luck

 

when i went out to my truck yesterday i went to take the key out and it came out with no problem, like nothing was wrong with it in the first place. The rest of the day I was driving all over and my key came out every time with no problem. But when i got to school today the same thing happened, it wouldn't come out.

 

That truck don't like schoolin' !

It's your steering wheel lock that's engaged. Wiggle your steering wheel back and forth (left and right) while wiggling out the key. It's not broken, it's a safety feature.

 

That's your truck telling you to trade it in on a new 2012!

 

make sure your shifter is fully in park position then take out key.

 

If he hasn't fixed it in the past 8 years, it never will be. You won the holy old post Batman award.

I can take the key out but can't turn off the switch it won't move.

 

I think this was my problem on my 95. Just wanted to note you have to pull on the steering wheel pretty hard. I was afraid I was gunna break it lol.
