Default Need help asap - Engine making a tapping noise...Video included

Hey guys,

My engine makes a slight tapping noise at idle (sounds a lot louder on camera but its still there). It's a 2013 5.0 with 50k miles on it.

I only have 6 days left on the warranty so I need to get this figured out. The build date is 1/13 so I don't think the oblong cylinder 3&4 is the issue. Engine is totally smooth when driving, noise goes away as RPMS go up (drowned out by engine noise i guess - but sounds fine when accelerating)

Thank you.

I've heard it's normal (sound resonating at the resonator or something) but if you look up videos of the oblong cylinders 3&4 it sounds identical. Taking it to dealer tomorrow but I want to hear what people think so I have a case and to see whether or not I have to force them to fix it and not say its normal.

5 yrs/60000 mile warranty on powertrain, if build date is Jan1 2013 and you bought it that month, you still have another 9 months and 10k miles to go, warranty start date is the day you bought it.

Build date on my truck is Dec 2012, I bought it Feb 2 2013 so my base powertrain warranty will be up Feb 2 2018 or 60,000 miles.

my guess piston slap because it's always more noticeable on the passenger side. It's very faint however, not sure where #3/4 are.

I bought this used and I am talking about the dealer's warranty. The truck is originally from Canada and in the states now. Is the warranty transferrable?

Powertrain warranty as far as I know stays with the truck no matter what, only need to transfer an extended warranty. You PT warranty would have started the clock ticking the day it was originally purchased.

That is amazing news. I'm on hold with ford so I can ask them and stop stressing this.
