If you don't have a conditioned water supply ... The key is that the last flush cycle is with a funnel into the adapter and using distilled water (4 gallons will suffice).Have done it SEVERAL times with no issues and/or radiator and/or heater core issues.

Another TIP ... Rather than using the funky female-female hose adapter, use a washing machine hose. *Have one as part of my radiator flush kit along with a modified reservoir cap that accepts the drain tube.

It amazes me how cheap the car manufactures are getting with leaving out basic features with new vehicles. Most everything is built to discourage the vehicle owner working on their own vehicle.

Considering I've driven Ford vehicles 150k+ miles on original coolant with 0 problems... I don't see the drain as a value...

 

In my experience, many metal drain plugs became fragile over time. Plastic ones stripped. I see no issue with no drain plug.

 

Are you going to buy a Tesla? They seem to be really good cars. They get really good reviews anyway, I haven't driven one yet. They do not have a radiator at all.

My old VW Bug didn't have a radiator either.

 

It gets changed every 100,000 miles. Really. Take it to the dealer and let them do it.

 

I'm surprised that there isn't a petcock valve on the 4.6L. I just did a DIY radiator drain/flush on my 5.4L 2010 this weekend (it has a petcock). Still a pain as it only drains about a gallon a flush (4.2 gallon total capacity) so it took me 12 flushes to get to clear fluid (lots of distilled water). I wish they put a drain plug on the engine block...

I have a copy of the 2009-2010 Ford Technical/Service Manual. Once I get home from work I'll check to see if it mentions anything about a radiator drain plug for the 4.6L...
