Need to flush power steering fluid
Hello I have a 2009 F-150 4x4 with 4.6L. Last weekend I attempted to change the power steering fluid because it is very dark and stinks like it may be burnt? Short of removing a hose or siphoning the old oil out of the storage tank and refilling and repeat until the oil looks relatively clean what is the recommended process?

I'll ask the question that's going to be asked by someone who knows how.
What led you to smell your power steering fluid? Were you experiencing a problem, or do you just sniff all your fluids regularly?

Lol! Yeah I like to sniff oil. If I put it in I usually know how old it is, but sinc I bought this truck used last December with 160K on the odometer and I don't know it's prior history. After purchasing it I did a thorough inspection and noticed a few things like the power steering fluid looking dirty and smelly. So I figured I would replace the fluids that looked like they had reached their service limit. The power steering s working fine.

Why not get a syringe and suck out the fluid, replace. Do this until it comes out clean?

Yeah... go to dollar store and buy a turkey baster and then work on the radiator flush.. don't forget the brake fluid too

Yeah I considered that. Turkey badgers are pretty cheap. Just seeing if there is a way to change this fluid without buying more tools.

Guessing... it's not pink and you can't smell the moisture in it...
