I love them on my truck, but they do rust if your in a more northern climate that uses road salt. Had mine 7 months and they have started to rust.

SpecialFX did they only start to rust where they had scratches?

Yup same here. I noticed the other day that mine have rust on the leading edge of the rear driver side step. Must be from the rock salt they coat the roads with here.

Other than needing a little touchup paint I'm real happy with them.

Too bad, like the look of them.
I'm calling BS unless you have pics.
I had the OEM oval steps (removed and sold them), and they mounted to the body - same as all of the aftermarket ones.

The main difference you'll find between the OEM and aftermarket ones is how many bolts there are and where they go.
The OEM brackets have 4 bolts - two in the pinch weld and two more above the weld. Most aftermarket ones I looked at only bolted into the pinchweld, and just braced against the body.

The Iron Cross model I bought used all four bolts, and used a third bracket in between the two OEM bracket locations.

No they have actually started to rust in the corner of the foot steps, and at the rear of the bar just in front of the rear wheel. Looks like there is a drip point where the rear box drips on top of the nerf bar...it's started to bubble there with some discoloration.

From what I have seen online, this is a common problem. I have heard that they are great to warranty them and they have a 5yr warranty.

Once winter is totally done, I plan on getting mine warrantied, then having them Line-x'd.

I crawled under my truck quite gung-ho to prove my case and it appears I was incorrect. They are mounted as you say. Spent too much time cruising rock bars and got myself confused, it seems.

Thanks for keeping me honest.

Maybe they were knock-offs, especially if the holes didn't line up

So far the best price I have found was at Truck Addons. They will do $359.25 shipped on the N-Fab and then there is a $25 rebate direct from the manufacturer putting the net cost at $334.25 shipped. Anyone beat that?
