Default My subwoofer set up... questions???

Need some advice. This is what I just installed.

Head unit:

Amp for sub:

Sub:

Sub box:

(no pic on their site for some reason, but the specs are there. downfire single sealed 10" enclosure)

I feel like I'm not getting the best sound. I don't need to be overly loud, wake up your neighbors kind of bass, but I want it to be clean. Does anyone have anything like my set up and are you happy with it? I'm thinking I need to get a different amp. Thinking of going with a Kicker amp. Suggetstions?

Is the sub hooked up to the amp correctly? Should have a positive on one channel and negative on the other for 4ohms bridged. How did you set your gains?

That's exactlly how its wired. I just set the gain up to where it isn't clipping. I don't have euipment for that. I have the low pass filter on, no bass boost on. Only way I can describe the sound is that on certain frequencies, it sound like its dropping off.

Make sure the box is 100% sealed. It's the biggest problem with premade boxes. Turn it up and just feel around all of the joints. If you feel air anywhere besides in front of the sub use some silicone and seal all the joints. For pioneer decks you usually want the EQ flat and sub level turned all the way up before setting your amp gains. Can't be done perfect by ear but can be done to stay safe. Head unit volume shouldn't go past 75%. Slowly turn the amp gain up until it doesn't get any louder and back it down a hair. What kind of music are you having problems with? Also make sure LPF is set to 80ish and subsonic if you have one is off or around 30.

I believe I've had 3 of the older versions of that sub in a 12" in my old car and they sounded alright. I haven't gotten into adding subs in these trucks yet but after you check the box try it with the sub facing up or forward just to see if there's a huge difference in output.

Thx. I will try your suggestions and let you know. The box itself is one of those ones sprayed with the bed liner on the outside. No gaps anywhere. But I guess I need to try and set the gain properly. Or maybe just get a 12". I had a ported box before and it really helped with the deep bass sound but didn't have that tight hit.
