My Ford Touch
Has anyone had problems with their GPS on the my ford touch after installing wheels larger than what came stock? My GPS can find where I am before I start traveling but as I travel it loses track. Dealer says its because of the larger wheels I put on. Any advice appreciated.
I can't see how larger tires would cause this. The GPS tracks you by satellite. I think I would have to call BS on the service guy. Tell him GPS stands for "Global Positioning System", ain't got a damn thing to do with tires

I saw a thread on this somewhere else. From what I recall, there's some sort of dead reckoning feature in the NAV. The OP of that thread found out he had to disconnect the battery and that cured it. Other posters confirmed the fix. OP disconnected for 15 minutes. Others for less than that. I have no idea if their info is accurate, just sharing what I saw.
The GPS system uses the normal GPS satellites and what Ford calls dead reckoning. Dead reckoning fills in the gaps or lost signal of the GPS. To do this system needs to know how fast and how you went since the last GPS fix. Larger tires through off the measurements.
Is there a fix?
Yup...... I found this out because I changed my stock Pirellis to Cooper AT3's 265/65/20 and my Nav went wacky. I have a good relationship my dealer and we worked together and reprogram the tire size in the PCM. The only problem is the dealer can only pick a tire size that was offer on the f150's when using their software. We got lucky. The tire size for the Raptor was with in a couple of tenths of the Coopers. Since we changed the tire size no problems.
