It's all for looks and you can get them with a bunch of different words and logos, they also make them with straight chrome plates that have no words on them and they are roughly 100.00 for 2 and later on down the road you can but a different plate and screw that one in. Check our local kijiji I remember there being a ad for a brand new set!!!

Just checked the ad is still up and there 80 bucks for the set brand new! Just search mud flaps!!!

In slushy climates, the moulded ones (from Weathertech, as well as from Ford) aren't ideal - if you kick them to get slush off, they do crack and break off sometimes. And you can't replace just one, you have to at least buy a new pair.

Also, the moulded ones don't offer very good coverage for lower offset rims/wider tires.

Also beware of some cheaper, aftermarket flaps. If they're too thin, they will warp and look nasty.

My favorite ones for off-road type trucks is the Premium or heavy duty Flat ones from Ford - they come in all black, or with the chrome insert:

I was in the same boat as what black Thunder was when I bought my truck And the Ford psrts and accessories manager showed me all the options and pros and cons to each and that's when I settled for the air hawk FX4 ones, also had them install since I was scared to drill into my brand new truck lol

Have those held up well? I was looking at those exact splash guards myself.

I have those with 18x9 +18 offset and 285 wide tires. They stick out a bit.

Don't worry about durability. I give mine a boot all the time. The fronts were even ripped off after my new wheels and 35" tires grabbed a hold of them while turning. I just had to trim a bunch off, bend them a bit and remount them up.

Kung - Have those held up well?
They have been installed since the vehicle was purchased *new* (10Oct2011) and haven't had any issues.

BTW ... The front were installed as "no-drill" using 3M™ Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape. *The rear are "no-drill" by default.
