MPT vs 5 Star Tunes for Ecoboost
Thinking about pulling the trigger on a tuner for my 2012 ecoboost. Who has experience with MPT or 5 Star custom tunes? What about Livewire vs SCT?

I only have experience with one tune on my 14 Eco. The 5☆ 91 perf/tow tune. I have had it tuned for 2000 miles. All I can say is it took a truck I didn't like and made me like it. It truly feels like a completely different truck and it tows so much better. I wholeheartedly recommend 5☆

Boost :)
MPT for me all the way. I've used them on 2 different EB trucks of mine and have been pleased with both. I've sent logs to them numerous times to dial in everything just right and they are super quick to respond.

I'm happy with the 5* on my 2014 EB. I got the 87 perf/tow, 89 perf/tow, 93 perf/tow, and 93 performance. Right when I got the tuner I spent a month driving on each tune, working from lowest power to highest. The 87 and 89 were noticeable over stock, but not nearly as much as the two 93 octane tunes.
I still go back and forth between the 93 perf/tow and the 93 performance tunes. The full performance tune is FUN, so much so that I often have a hard time hooking up when I mash the throttle even if I'm already moving 10-15 mph. The perf/tow tune is probably a little better for daily driving. It's got plenty of power still, but isn't so radical that I just spin the tires when I need to get moving.
Its probably safer on my engine as well. Sometimes I wonder if I'm about to throw a rod or something when I run the 93 performance tune. I often hear that 5* tunes make slightly less power but are more street friendly than the other tunes, but I don't know if more power would really be that usable unless I put a real limited slip in the rear end.

For those of you that have 5 start tunes, what has their customer service been like?

Both the livewire and sct are programmers made by the same company sct. I have an sctx4 with 5* and MPT custom tunes, the livewire programmer has a larger screen but that's as far as the differences go between it and the x4, they both do the same thing.
Completely happy with 5* and MPT, the latter being a little more aggressive and gives the option of using the tow/haul button as a sort of sport/touring mode switch. Have been running an MPT 93 race tune as a DD for a couple years now.
