I have a 2012 5.0L F150, and would like to have a second battery for a backup, and adding some light bars. (yes, I know it isn't necessary, but I like to over-complicate things ☺)
I found a nice lithium battery, so it's small so should be easy to fit somewhere, and weigh less than 5 lbs. I have a battery isolator, so don't need to worry about they charging eachother or anything like that.
I haven't modified a vehicle before, so this is probably a dumb question, but where is it safe to drill to add a mounting bracket? Since it's a light enough battery, I was planning on just some u-shaped brackets hanging down, and then securing the battery to those.
I was thinking that the following location might be good, but didn't know what was behind it, and wasn't sure if it was just thin sheetmetal...
