Default Morimoto XB Clones installed....excuse the rust!

Just installed a set of Morimoto XB Clones on my 2012 FX4. Love them, but hate looking at the rust. Every time I go through the car wash it gets worse and worse. Any suggestions to mitigate the problem? I would remove and repaint but I have a full size westin brush guard installed and it would be real PITA to remove the bumper right now. See pic below.

Naval jelly to remove the surface rust and touch up paint will help slow the problem until you can do a complete strip and repaint.

It'll remove the surface rust without a doubt, but I'd find a small area to test it on first as it may remove more finish than you want. I've used it to remove barrel rust from firearms before, and it will easily strip the bluing from them as well.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to give it a try, I have duplicolor touch up paint. Hopefully the dark shadow grey is close to the color.

Another option is phosphoric acid (Ospho). It stops the rust and leaves a blackish finish that can be painted over. Lotsa luck.

Well whatever the name, love the light output. Just hate staring at a rusty bumper, these upstate New York winters are rough on vehicles.

Scrub it down, treat it and then plasti-dip it.
