I'll let you know why I picked FX4
1-Hate chrome
2-Raptor all play no work, no Eboost, Sucks gas like a drunken sailor.
3-Platinum (see #1). however there are a couple of fetures from the platinum I would have liked: Perforated leather, rear reading lights (instead of dome) homelink, rear center arm rest.

The homelink is now available on the FX4 (stupid omission to begin with).
I also recommend the big tank if you tow heavy regularly.

I can't take another Jan like last year.
Just need the views on here to make a good decision so I can tell my dealer to source the right truck for me - QUICKLY
Wow! Skip the truck and move.

One thing to be aware of is while the platinum and fx4 will benefit from dealer discounts and rebates, raptors usually sell right at MSRP. So while the stickers of all 3 may be within 3-4k of each other, street price will probably be much different.

I love the Platinum, but....if you already love the FX4, I'd vote for that, cause you're going to want money left over for toys on it anyhow. That's what my plan was.

Or just go over the top and buy the Raptor, if you plan on doing some serious offroading.

I wanted the raptor.... BAD. But the dealers wouldn't really make a deal and no 0% financing and the thing is a pig on gas. The tailgate steered me away from the platinum. I was between the fx4 and lariat. I really didn't want painted bumpers but every lariat I saw had the chrome package which I didn't like. And for '11 the fx4 didn't have air conditioned seats as an option. But after some looking I found a Lariat, no chrome, ac seats, no step bars, eco boost and off road package. Best compromise between the fx4 and platinum

If the option to get the Raptor is there then you get the Raptor. I was set on the FX4 but my wife liked the options in the Platinum and she talked me into getting it.

Big discounts on the left-over 2011's which are easily available with plenty of choices left if you shop around on the internet a little. Few substantial upgrades with the 2012's to make equivalent trucks worth thousands more. If you look hard enough you'll be able to find your combination in a left-over 2011. I was going to order a loaded white 2012 FX4 when my local dealer didn't have and couldn't (didn't try hard enough) locate what I wanted but found a King Ranch a short 2 1/2 hour drive away. I spent about the same amount, got all of the options I wanted, and have the super nice leather as a bonus!
