modded ecoboost or blown 5.0?
Which do you think could make the most reliable horsepower on pump gas?
Say you are shooting for 450hp at the tires, which would cost more to get there?
Just thinking outloud.

Supercharged 5.0 Coyote. Roush has a well engineered kit for a cool $6400. You will probably find more aftermarket performance parts for the 5.0 than the 3.5 Eco.
Ford Racing has a twin turbo 5.0 Coyote. Who knows, this motor could someday find its way into an F150 Lightning (if they decided to bring it back). Here's a link:

That is a thread on this forum of a Supercharged 5.0, its over 450HP. Does anyone know what the highest HP ecoboost is? OFF the bottle! My vote goes for the Supercharged 5.0, I cant wait to see what it will do when someone turbo's an F150 5.0, that will end the debate pretty quick I would think.

^Better question
Who has made the highest pump gas fuel number? Without nitrous, just forced induction.(ie: turbos and blowers) Eco, 5.0, or 6.2?
Another thought, would the 4 valve heads of the 5.0 with a blower help to create more peak power than the 2 valve heads in the 6.2 with a blower? I'm sure the 4 valve will peak at higher rpm, but is it enough to over power a blown 6.2?
I've also seen STS twin turbo setups on older F-150, does anyone know of a turbo kit for the Coyote?

I think a blown 5.0 and 6.2 are close, but it seems the 5.0 will hold up better to the power. I feel like ford spent more time on the rotating assembly than the 6.2, as well as the rest of the engine. Id take a 4v 6.2 tho!
For mile power, go ECOBOOST. If your going to go bigger, boost the 5.0

For reliable horsepower i would say the Ecoboost. All though it is a 3.5L it is built to handle the horsepower. It has 6 bolt mains and forged internals. It can handle a lot more horsepower than the naturally aspirated 5.0 engine could. Not that i have anything against the 5.0. I'm just not sure how long it would last pushing it with stock internals? I would love to see Ford come out with a 5.0 Ecoboost. Then we would all be happy!!

As far as track times go, who has the fastest?
http://www.dragzine.com/features/car...-on-5-0-f-150/
I have read of several 5.0s in the low 11s. I think the fastest EcoBoost in is the High 12s, if I am not mistaken.
When I finish paying mine of I will be supercharging it. I am sure the 5.0 can take a beating just like the EcoBoost can.

I have no intrest in drag racing it, just raw power in the passing lane and mud holes.
And how much can the stock transmission take before needing upgraded?

The internals of the 5.0 and the ECO are the same - hyper pistons, powdered rods, forged crank. Both have piston squirters as well.
Which one will have more power depends on the owners wallet.
