Default Mishumito 160* Thermostat

Long time no see...

Anyways, I was digging around and found out that Mishimito has a 160* Thermostat.
I know stock is 188-190 but was wondering what advantages/disadvantages of running 160 over 190 be? Other than more coolant (going to be flushing anyways), what do I need?

Just pop this one in instead of the original and call it a day? Motor is pretty much stock and no tune/r. Truck has ~80,000miles and making a 2 week trip out to Laughlin and Havasu over summer and don't want the truck to struggle in the 120+ heat. Might be towing the boat might not we haven't figured who's towing what yet. Boat is a Yamaha AR240 weighing in around 4000lbs.

These truck are designed to be ran at a certain engine temp. Changing it to a lower temp could throw off the computer causing power/mileage issues.

What Tothemax says, and running in 120 degree ambient temperature, it won't matter even if you had a cooler thermostat installed. That's to damn hot!

Maybe I'll just leave the stock one then and just flush the coolant.

Trust me not to excited to go

It's a very simple job. I believe you would need a tune to set proper fan settings as well....

Stick with the stock thermostat, you'll be just fine.

youll be fine with your boat out there. im in laughlin every year with our boat. i used to pull it with my 06 fx4 crew in 115-120 degree weather. our boat loaded up was about 7k lbs total and i never had an overheating issue with the stock thermostat.
