Is the paint smooth...no texture in it?

Did they use the same caps that you took off? Or did they make you buy new ones that are already primed and smooth?

Thanks

Hey statikuz, here's a curosity question - why didn't you get the entire mirror housing painted so there's no black plastic showing?

The paint is smooth. The painter guy said that the original caps cannot be painted (I'm sure they could but would require some prep and ergo additional cost). The caps I believe were something like $40 apiece. They come in smooth black plastic. The part numbers are 9L3Z-17D742-BAPTM and 9L3Z-17D743-BAPTM.

You may be able to have the entire housing painted but I like the two-tone look. I think with the mirror housing painted but not the mirror mount it would look funny. However since the factory plastic housing is textured you would most likely run into the same painting issues.

You know, instead of completely removing that reflector, that thing may look good sprayed down with some VHT nightshades. That way it's not so orange.

Those are the part numbers off the boxes that the caps came in.

I don't really like the shaded look - by tinting it down you're pretty much eliminating its purpose as a reflector, and it takes more work/time/cost than just replacing them with the black ones IMO.

Is there anyone who has ptm the entire mirror? I'm not a huge fan of the caps and am planning on doing the whole thing this summer.
