Default Michelin XLT Tires....

My truck came with these tires and I now have 17k miles on them but only have 6/32" tread left, WTF? I get my oil changed every 5k miles and have the tires rotated with the oil change. Anyone else experiencing this?

Unfortunately Michelin doesn't have a mileage warranty on these tires only for defects.

18" rims. Tires are 265/60R18, these are the All Season tires and from some research it appears that the M/S tires are far better and have a 70k mile warranty, I do see some people complaining about the wear on the A/S tires and they start at 11/32" so I am almost at 50% wear.... Think I am going to go to Yokohama tires on my next round, had great luck with these in the past.

Default Update: 7/23/10

I went to Discount Tire yesterday and had them look at the tires, they checked them and 3 tires were at 5/32" and 1 was at 4/32" so they took the DOT info off the tires and called Michelin this morning.

Michelin offered a credit towards new tires of $283 plus TPMS kits so I took the deal, thing was I had to buy either Michelin's or BF Goodrich tires. I took the Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires with a rating of 770AA and a 70k mile warranty! Far better then the LTX A/S which have no mileage warranty and only a 440AA rating.

Total cost was $765.21 for all 4 tires everything included, thank you Discount Tire for going to bat for me! I'm happy....

I've been thinking about replacing my Goodyears with LTX. My biggest beef with LTX tiers over the years was the tread design that seemed to catch stones and throw them on the side of the truck. I always had the M/S, and see you got the A/S. How do you like them? Quiet? Smooth ride? Thanks..

I've been known to do this on occasion so I will ask a stupid question again. Why the TPMS kits? Aren't the ones you have on the rims now reusable? Maybe I should RTFM?

I had the A/S as they came with the truck, I now have the M/S 2.

No clue other than they said it was included and needed to be done.

My order stated the truck I was getting had General tires on it, however when I picked it up at the dealer it had Michelin LTX A/S on it. At first I thought this was great, then I started reading all the reviews at Tire Rack and was pretty worried until one review caught my eye. Apparently the OWL version of the tire is a completely different tread pattern than the black letter and the reviewer gave it a great review. I've got my fingers crossed.

The white letter has a fair bit of siping for the snow and ice which the regular one doesn't.

I was psyched that the truck I wanted actually had the Michelin tires as I've been a Michelin guy. I always got the M/S in the past - I didn't research the A/S's that came with the truck. I just hit 10,000 today and will have them rotated and balanced again. I have noticed that they are wearing much quicker than any Michelin's I've had in the past. I am sooo ready to get new, bigger, tires so I'm not that upset. If I bought these new (I know I did with the truck) and the size I wanted (these are 265/60/18) I would be upset. I don't think I want the Michelin's on the next set...not sure what I'm gonna next. Long story short - the Michelin A/S tires suck...they ride great, but wear sucks...

Agreed, they rode great and the wear sucks. The LTX M/S 2's ride great as well and the handling is far better than the A/S that I can tell so far. Heading out of town tomorrow so we will see how they do.
