Default Melted Fuse 2013 F150

What would cause the Fuel pump relay power 20 Mini Fuse to burn on the end before the fuse blew.

Went to crank my truck this afternoon after work and it would only turn over an not start. So I started checking fuses and relays in the main fuse box under the hood in front. The last fuse I pulled was the Fuel pump relay power fuse and this is what it look like. Went to the parts house and got a replacement fuse and it crank fine.

My truck did cut off at the red light last week for no reason, but cranked up fine and did not have any more problems. I thought maybe the heat and fuel issue.

Also where is the fuse puller for these mini fuse located. Could not find it but did not look in the fuse panel on the interior. These are a pain to get out.

High amperage from either a short or fuel pump internally failing. Slight chance of crushed wire.

Also can we get more info on the vehicle.

Of course the most likely cause would be that your fuel pump is going bad. Maybe a clogged filter causing it to work harder and draw more current? Something else wrong in the fuel system? Maybe check your filter and then test your fuel pressure. Also check all the wiring to the fuel pump, just in case.

TSB 15-0137 moves fuse 27 in the battery junction box to a higher load terminal. I have done several of these repairs. The kit is really cheap and the fix is easy.

This.

Sjb fuse 27 relocation. Ford calls it a terminal kit. Should be less than 20 bucks in parts and .6hr shop labor per the tsb.

X3. Heat at fuse terminal caused by poor connection. Other wise overload would cause fuse to blow without damaging terminal.

I am planning on taking the truck to the dealer this weak to see if the TSB 15-0137 will be covered under warranty. The new fuse is working fine with no damage so far.

Default Fuel Pump Relay Fuse

Per Ford tech today, there is a kit that is needed to be installed as was already discussed. Safety issue fer sure. It's a work around instead of a recall at this point. I'll post when I get it back and let you know how much it costs. Appt next week.

He probably already got it fixed since it was last year
The parts are under $16.00 and took 45 minutes to do in my garage, I also drank 2 cold BL while I did it so it might actually take less time than that
