Exclamation Meh 2015

Is it just me, the more I look at the 2015 the less I am impressed with it. From the side angles it looks like all recent F150's, the front looks to out of scale!

It took a while for the 10th, 11th and 12th gens to grow on me so I guess it will be the same for the 13th gens. From the pics I've seen of the 2015 some look good depending on how much chrome it has and which grill it has.

Here's the appearance guide
http://blogs.cars.com/files/15_f150_...nal_2-ret-.pdf
The grill has grown on me, at first I thought it was hideous. The xlt chrome package grill is still fugly to me. I don't like the sharp angles of the headlights and how it broken up in the middle by a piece of the body. That's my biggest turn off with the redesign. I also don't like the new "caribou" color for the two tone on the king ranch package. I would liked to have seen a darker shade of gold than the old pale adobe. This new color is too brown and doesn't have enough gold in it when compared to the old king ranch f150's. I've already decided my next truck will be a super duty so I'm hoping it doesn't pick up too many styling cues from the new f150

I agree, aside from the interior updates (which they did a great job with!), the exterior to me was an extreme turn off. I was going to wait for a 2015, but after seeing what they looked like, I went ahead and got a 2014 instead. Plus the fact that they will no longer be carrying the 6.2L for the 2015+ models.

The ideal F150 to me would be to have the 2011-2014 Exterior with the 2015 Interior and technology upgrades. The LED lights and remote tailgate are the ONLY things I like on the exterior of the 2015. But everything else looks much better on the current gen from the outside in my opinion.

In any event, I'm happy with my 2014

My only reservation is NO WAY would I want to be a beta tester of the pop-can body. They can say all they want about millions of test miles, but that ain't nuthun compared to giving it to a bubba with a lawn sevice. How about a couple years with a cement contractor? That'll show the weak points. I wouldn't even consider a 13th gen until 2017. Ultimately, I'm sure it will prove to be a great truck- just not yet.

I see Tundra when I look at the front grille...maybe itll come around on me, but your right, id be hesitant to buy a 2015, just being the 1st rendition of the model year

They already use aluminum hoods in the current gen.

Besides, a dent is a dent and honestly I can't imagine that military grade rolled aluminum being any weaker than the current body's.

If you get a dent you'd get the same dent current gen or next gen.

Completely agree with this entire statement. And the 13th seems to look everything from great to awful depending on trim level.

I personally would still be happier with a brand new 8-9th gen truck over any 10th gen - current.

I am in complete agreement with most of what has been posted here. From some angles, the 2015 looks (almost) great, and from some others....MEH.
I would, I think, have to see a 2014 parked right next to a 2015 to appreciate some of the nuances of the newer design.
I did see a 2015 pre-production at a local auto show, and the headlights and tailights were on in the "parking light" mode....I thought those were pretty cool in the way the lights were outlined.
I do think that the 2015 is more of a "feminine" design in the body section with very graceful and pretty transitions, but with a masculine bulldog face. I think that is part of the turn-off for me. They just don't seem to go together very well.

I think the grill size is way too much and a lot of the lines on the front end and tailgate/back end are take too sharp of angles. The smooth body lines in the middle look great but the ends and the head/taillights are just such a radical change that it's very off putting because it's so unfamiliar
