When I picked mine up last year from the dealer, I noticed that a plastic clip on one of the handles was snapped. A rattle clip I think. It was replaced under warranty, the service manager said its an $1100 Cdn part. No, not the clip, rather the whole unit had to be replaced to replace the clip!!!! Holy schnakies.

I like the idea of the step but does it get in the way or make the tailgate wicked heavy?

P.S. If you guys want to switch to this style tailgate start calling local salvage yards. The truck has been out long enough that there my be some totalled wrecks with the tailgate on it.

Not at all. I can lift and drop it with one hand. The handle folds flat totally out of the way.

I agree with the previous post. There's no problem lowering or closing the tail gate regarding weight.

But,,,, if you want to remove it, you better have two people! Or be in very good shape.

love the step. used it last night to get all the hockey bags out of the truck. even loading stuff up I usually pull it out so I don't have to crawl into the bed.

I love the step too. Use it when loading my hockey stuff, dirtbike or just about every time I need to get into the box. There is only one thing I don't like about it... the handle... I find that dirt gathers in there, especialy if you hve sand or something in the box. I vote for the tailgate with the step in it, but no handle. I hardly ever use the handle...

I have the XLT with the step and rearview camera...

I have the Amp research bed step and it is worth every penny. My truck has a 6" lift.

The step and the side bed steps were the reason I switched to Ford (not to mention only way to get crew and 6.5' bed in a half-ton)
