Default Making my exhaust louder.

I'm looking to make my exhaust louder with out buying a full cat back kit. What can I do. Will a simple muffler swap give me
A nice rumble? Cut the muffler out and straight pipe it. My truck is
A 2010 5.4L. Please give me some
Ideas.

I remember working on a 99 5.4L that we straight piped duels from the cats back to resonator tips and it rumbles nicely. Can hear it down the road.

My neighbor has the 5.4 and he just did a nice series 50 flowmaster. Nice tone but not drone'y at all. If you want even louder then that take the resonator out as well.

I may go with just cutting the muffler off and welding a peice of straight pipe in place. I'm not sure how much of a difference a muffler swap will make.

I had my friend weld in a Flowmaster Super 44. Sounds great.

Have you looked at the stock muffler on a 2010? That thing is huge, although I put an American Thunder kit from Flowmaster on my wife's 2010. I'm sure any performance muffler in place of the stock one will sound better.

Unbolt the cat-back (two bolts) from the front pipes and you'll see how much that stock muffler is quieting down the sound. Sounds cool! But not legal to run that way.

Strait pipe it? Only if you have a friend at the inspection station.

Oh it's only illegal if you get caught
