Default lowered and extended running board

accidental great mod!

2013 SCREW lariat 4x4 EB 3.55

I wanted to move my running boards out and possibly a bit lower to make it easier to get in and out of truck. I know there are couple of people here who have modified the brackets so I thought I give it a try.

I didnt want to modify my current brackets and wanted the fx4 black boards so I looked around on the threads and found a set of 2011 fx black boards with brackets and bolts. I figured the 11, 12 and 13's were all the same.... WRONG!

Fortunately the differences between the 11 and 13 boards were in my favor. The 11 boards are thinner (mounting) and the bolts are inboard more than the 13's.

So after enlarging the stock mounting holes and drilling two more holes in my 13 brackets, the 2011 boards bolted right in and sit one inch out more and one inch lower.

To me that is the perfect location for my comfort to use.

I can't speak for the 2011 chrome boards or 2012 model, but if you own a 2011 and want your FX boards lower and out more, just buy yourself a set of 2013 brackets, modify the holes and your set!

If you have a 2013, get yourself a set of 2011 fx boards, mod the holes in your brackets and done!

Best accidental mod ever... and easy!
