Default Lower Grill?

We recently picked up a 2013 XLT SCAB. It has the transmission cooler and the front license plate holder is offset to the drivers side. There is no grill protecting the tranny cooler. Should there be one there?

Yes there is. On my 14 there is a grill there although it only has 2 slats so it doesn't protect much. Also it is protecting the intercooler. The tranny cooler is mounted much higher up behind the main grille.

There is no factory lower grille on the gen 12's ( 09-14 ). What engine is in your truck? The reason I ask is IF it's an EcoBoost, that is the intercooler behind that opening. There are some nice, reasonably priced aftermarket lower grilles you can purchase. They install very easily.
They offer protection from debris as well as really cleaning up the front end. I got mine through Amazon.

It is an Ecoboost. I will take a look at Amazon to find one. Thanks.

As stated above, it doesn't come with one but you can either buy an aftermarket one or Ford does make an OEM insert.

ebay has them or call your local dealer with part number EL3Z-17K945-AA and ask them how much it is. it's the one that came on the 2014 models.

Skip the crappy OEM one. Tons of them on Amazon, eBay and truck sites.

i have a similar one in black. if the OP buys one of these throw out the installation directions and get 2 zipties. that is all that is needed for the install (they are used on the top of the grille).
