Default Low tire pressure warning

So after I installed the 315 duratracs, I decided to check the tire pressure to see if I could reduce the PSI for a smoother ride. Well they initially put over 60 PSI in each tire that's rated for a max of 50PSI. So I lowered them to like 46 PSI. Now I'm getting the low pressure light but would like to keep running at that level because the ride is so much smoother.

Is there a way to disable this light from ever coming on? What is the minimum pressure i can run to keep the light from coming on if I can't disable it all together. Thanks in advance for your input.

The light shouldn't be on at 46 psi. Maybe you have a bad sensor??

I had 315x70x17 BFG's that were load range d and 50psi max. I ran them at 42 psi "cold" and took them off and sold them with 43k miles and they were only half worn. I agree with Nassty you may have a bad sensor, LT tires should have the low air light go on at around 35 psi in my opinion.

Sorry about that. Don't know what I was thinking when I posted this. It's a 2011 f150 super crew XLT.. 3" leveling kit.

It's possible they damaged a sensor when they installed the rubber or... Less likely... They actually recalibrated the system for your new pressures. I didn't think a tire shop would be that ambitious though...

Did you try putting the pressure back up, just to see if the low pressure alarm would clear. If it clears, I would not think its a sensor...

I thought the sensors compares presssure to eachother and not to the number on the door????

I don't know, just asking....

Either way...... Like NASSTY said, it should not be on at that presssure anyway.

There is a section in the owners manual about re calibrating the low pressure warning depending on something I didn't do so I just skimmed over it.

Set your pressure where u want them.

Turn ignition on
Hit hazard button 6 times
Horn will honk in tpms learn mode

Start at drivers front, let air out of tire until it honks.
Go around truck clockwise, same thing then it will say ' tpms complete' and you can turn off ignition
