Default Loss of Power

This is second time it's happen to me....After backing my truck out of the garage and moving it down the driveway I come to a complete stop on a slight incline, put in D and press on the gas peddle and it's like the truck is in 6th gear. I really have to give it the gas to move. After moving 5 feet I turn off the truck and restart it, then everything is normal. Before restarting I put the truck in Park and the same, only a restart works. Happen again this morning.

Any ideas?

If I had to guess, I'd say you didn't actually have it in 'D' but accidentally put your gear selector in '3' which means you're starting in 3rd gear. On an incline, that would definitely act like you had no power.

As specified in your OM, selecting either '1', '2' or '3' will hold only those gears and not allow your truck to use the full range of transmission gears. It seems like a dumb way to program the tranny, but I guess Ford had a vision when they did it. I can't imagine it will be that much help for limited traction starts.

That makes a lot of sense.....I will pay attention to insure that's what's happening next time I have a problem.

Sure you weren't in third? I've done it a couple times by accident and until I looked down I coulda swore I had it in D but it was in third.
