Looks like it kind of blocks one of the tie-down hooks? Any thoughts on how that will work out?

I am not worrying about it. I have a thing ring in the stakepocket there (albeit high on the rail) and if I do need a low tie down angle I would just swing the swing case over.

Like many things in life, you end up compromising with certain mods: you gain one thing, you lose another. Just matters what is more important to you to have/not lose at the time.

It certainly is not a reason not to get the Swing Case, unless you need that tie down every day. Thanks

My buddy had one of those sideboxes and he uses it all the time. I like the idea. The only thing I didn't find (and its minor at best) is that when it is secured and locked in place it still rocks back and forth and rattles. IDK if you can hear it going down the road but you can when you walk in the bed.

Again, that is just something minor that a piece of rubber insulator can fix but to me its like "Why not put some form of padding behind there to further enhance the quality feel and look of them?"

I'd buy one if I had a truck still.

Lenn, no rattles or noises with this one. I did notice there is a little rubber tit on the bracket that, when closed, the box is pressed against. Maybe a later fix in design they did. All I know is, so far, sounds good (i.e. no sounds). I am very happy with it, thoughtful design, just wish it was bigger (don't start NorCal). Thanks

Oh for sure. I just wasn't sure how it would work out. Can always pop the case off and leave it at home lol. So it does swing open with the gate up?

With the gate up/closed, the Swing Case is only able to swing out about 45 degrees (1/2 way). because one corner of it quickly comes into play against the inside surface of the tailgate, as you would imagine.

This looks like the same thing as noted in previous posts, but a good bit cheaper. $130 through Northern Tools. Anyone have one of these?

It is cheaper because it does not swing out, it is stationary.

I looked at that too (I like Northern Tool catalog), and I would have tried it, but I liked the swing action of the Swing Case.

I really like the idea behind this product. Can you answer a couple more questions if you don't mind?

How waterproof has the box been now that you've had it installed for a couple months?

I have a small boat a carry in the back of the truck sometimes and it needs the full width of the bed. Is the box removable so the full bed width is available?
