Default looking into 09-11 with higher miles

Im looking at several trucks, 09-11 with between 80k-111k. Any year better than another? Is 100k to much mileage? What should i be looking at with that type of mileage? Ive been driving diesel so im out of the gasser game.

I bought my 09 with 101k miles. When i went to look at it i just made sure it shifted good and no unusual noises with the motor (the 5.4 has some noise though). If its the supercrew check for the 3rd brakelight leak. The headliner will have stains on the back corners. theyre pretty solid trucks but i if you can get an 11 5.0/ecoboost for your price you would probably be better off. No complaints from my 5.4 but if i had to do again i would look alittle harder for a newer one.

I found a 2010 platinum with 111k for 22,500. I figure i could get them down at least 2k. But i have been looking at the '11 and really like what im seeing with the 5.0.

Not bad. Mines an xlt. Pretty loaded with chrome, sync and sirius. All that stuff. With the prices of used supercrews its crazy

Nice! Theres so many options out there im a little overwhelmed. I know it has to be supercrew for the kids. But as for fx4, xlt, lariat, platinum...i dont know. I see pros and cons to all of them. Just trying to see whats the most bang for the buck.

Are cam phasers still an issue? And the 2 piece plug?

Cam phaser are. Not as bad i hear. Mine has noise occasionally. But nothing like my 04. The plugs are not an issue anymore. I changed mine out at i think at 104k and it was simple.

Do you know if cam phaser is an expensive fix? Hopefully not the 1k's im used to with diesel.
What are the signs that they are going out?
