Looking for help on a 2011 F 150
Hi, first post on the forum. Currently my truck is a four year old Toyota Tacoma and while very happy with the truck it is now my only tow vehicle and I'm concerned that it's brakes are ok I'm not sure they are up to towing long distance. So I'm looking at a new truck and the F 150 is my first choice, but I need some helpful hints. My initial draft is a 2011 FX2 super not crew cab ( my wife does not want it too big) with the towing package, short bed, leather interior with bucket seats, heated and with lumbar support. In dash nav and rear camera, bluetooth and Ipod connections and suspension options to make it handle on the road. At our age, when we tow the race car we want ot be comfortable but we still need a truck rather than an SUV for all the stuff we locally transport. Now the questions, what did I forget? and more importantly should I go wit the Eco boost V6 or the 5 liter V8. It has been years since I owned a Ford. I appreciate all the comments in advance.
and for those that question the user name it is a fighter pilot term meaning "watch what is behind you" and my first full career was as a Air Force fighter pilot with four tours in VietNam ... that wonderful vacation spot that caused many of us to lose our youth.

Regarding the engine choice. That's a hard one to make any suggestion on being that the 2011's aren't out in customers hands yet for a 'real world' review. For me, being that I'm also 'old school', I still feel that a larger displacement (cubic inch) engine will work less and last longer then a smaller turbo charged engine. Now I may be completely wrong here with all of the new designs and technology available today. But if I was buying a 2011 (which I was originally going to do) I'd order either the 5.0 or the 6.2! I just picked up my 2010 Platinum 2 weeks ago with the 5.4 due to the great discounts.
And I salute you for your past service to our country. During the Vietnam War, I was fortunately stationed here in the US. I was in the Coast Guard, Search & Rescue and also Port Security.
Respectfully, don't let your wife dictate what truck you get. You have to drive it and be happy with it. My wife was the same until she saw how nice it was inside and how much room was in the back of a SCREW. Much room for kids, groceries, leg room, etc. Show her that one and she may agree. My wife loves the truck and likes it when I take her for a ride in my baby.
And the way he wants is spec'd out..... Its going to be very hard to find. You might want to just order one bud! FX2's with Nav are virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find, Especially in a s/cab.
