Default Looking at buying a 09-10. Anything to worry about?

I am looking at buying a 09 or 10 F150 4x4 XLT with a 5.4L. I am driving a 94 F150 now so it is going to be a big jump. Is there anything I should worry about when I find one I want? I am somewhat of a worry wart so I ask a lot of questions. What year did they put in the built in brake control? Are there any TSBs that I should make sure were taken care of? Thank you for any ideas that you may have.

I'm partial, but try to go for a 2010 5.4 if you have a choice. It was the 2nd year of the current model and the best and final year of the 5.4 development. A lot of guys on here will tell you that 2010 was a good solid year for these trucks. Not many problems are reported on here from 2010 owners.

103k miles on my 2010 5.4 and it still feels and drives like its brand new!

If possible get one with the max tow option. TBC is of course included along with 3:73's and tow mirrors that I'm really spoiled with.

I'm real happy with my '10 5.4 Screw. No problems that are really note worthy. Been a real solid truck.

What to watch for- nothing really.

I really do want a 2010, but they are on the upper end of my price range. That is why I am also looking at 09s. I was originally looking at 07-08s, but for the price difference and the better engines and transmissions, I started looking at the 09s and 10s. For as much towing as I do (not much) I would prefer the 3.55 rear end.

^ If you plan on upping the tire size any, go for the 3.73's From what I read there's not a whole lot of difference between them economy wise, but they help with the tires. I put 33's on my and I can definitely notice a difference with power lag and shifting.

I just got my 2010 3 weeks ago, loving it! Look at the pinion seal on the rear end, it may have a small weep. Mine does, luckily I'm still under warranty.

Main reason (for me at least) I got the 09 up body was the night and day difference the 6 speed tranny makes compared to the 04-08 I've driven many times in the past.

If you can afford it I think you should try to get the 11' as it has a better transmission tow/haul mode. etc. The 5.0 will outshine the 5.4 in almost every way.

Some reading for you.

Tires will stay stock. I have no plans to lift or have bigger tires. I may do some mods, but nothing that will change the look of the truck.

Without trying to start an engine war of what's better I'd say since the 09 is already near the top of his budget it makes more sense to get the last year of the 5.4 instead of the very first year 5.0 and the better tow/haul mode on the 11 (first I've heard of that btw) won't really matter since he said that towing won't be frequent if at all.
