Question Looking to buy a tuner

I will be in the market for a tuner as soon as tax money comes in. I want to be able to improve my gas mileage and also power when needed. What are your experiences or what do you have? Any input would be fantastic! Thanks!

Howdy thar, and Welcome!

First - ye need to provide more info:

Truck year, engine, mods, budget, towing or not and how much, etc ( sorry I don't as a rule look in profiles - relevant info should be in the post proper - old-fashioned, I am, lol)

My recommendation - custom tuned SCT X4 from these fellers:

www.morepowertuning.com

Avoid generic canned tunes at all costs - custom costs little, if any, more.

Be advised - mpg gains are NOT assured - HP/TQ gains assuredly ARE, lol.

Good luck!

SCT w/ 5* tunes. Buy from stage3motorsports. They are a site sponsor and good to deal with.

I have a 2014 F150 Lariat 4x4 Supercrew (short bed) with the 5.0.

I am running an Airaid CAI, Borla ATAK cat back exhaust, and the 5-Star 91-octane performance tune. I have the SCT X4 tuner.

All purchased from Stage 3 Motor Sports. I agree with the comment about Stage 3 being a good company, all my experiences have been positive with Stage 3.

Of course, my objectives were for a little more power and a little more noise, not mileage.

Thanks for the input! I have a 2012 lariat with the 5.0. Is that the tuner you own? What kind of performance/mileage increase can you get out of it? Thanks in advance for the further nput!

I have a 2012 lariat 5.0 and that tuner with mpt tune. Expect much better shifting strategy, a solid bit more power, massive increase in perceived power, little to no change in mpg's, and the biggest effing smile on your face! (no joke, truck is super fun to drive now, treat her like my little sports cars).

The tune is easily the best investment I made, really brings my baby to life!

Good to know! Can you adjust for an oversized tire (275/70/18) with the tuner?
